Power projection. The fact that you can travel from one side of the galaxy to the other in 15 minutes is dumber than a box of ****. I could write an entire novel on how bad for the game this is.

As much as I hate to be seen agreeing with you, power projection is a serious problem that cuts across a huge swathe of the game; combined with a week's worth of timers before you can actually lose a system creates the ******* disaster known as dominion sov.
I can't remember the last time someone gave a compelling argument that the current system is good. I feel like we all would like to achieve a system that is enjoyable and functional as an attacker and a defender. If only we all could sit down and have a real brain storming session(s) without trolling and or tear each others throats out within 30 seconds of starting.

Power projection is just one of several amplifiers that when combined with other bad mechanic amplifiers it causes a disaster. By itself and when dealing with small numbers it is not too bad. Now add together hundreds even thousands of players. Now combine vast network of free flowing intel that is insanely easy to come by with other mechanics like local channel, map activity and spy networks.
Now you wind up with a scenario where no small entity can perform any kind of committed risky activity, say like siege an enemy POS or POCO (structure grind that is itself pretty bad). The chances of that small entity getting hot dropped by bored power blocks (bored due to a combination of bad mechanics which I will get to later) and presto. The small entity is annihilated, thus instilling the fear to commit to such an activity again.
Now there will be those who will cry out that that small entity should get more friends, don't engage the POS or POCO if anyone is in local that is not blue, do a better job of weeding out the spies,... the list goes on. Those are shallow replies. I like to look much deeper into the situation.
Why is a power block even bothering with hot dropping some small fries on the other side of the galaxy?
Short answer: Because they can.
Long answer: Because due to current game mechanics and years of said game mechanics and previous ones; the blob exists and is by far the most effective means of performing any significant activity in the game. Numbers is the end all to all mechanics. It is the players answer, through years of tried and true combat and testing, to the vast majority of all the mechanics CCP has implemented into this game. Yes I know there will be some of you that will whip out isolated events from your Rolodex memory to smite me with, but those are very few and far between. Even if they managed to make a huge difference at that moment.
Again back to power projection...
In no way shape or form can someone wave some wand and utter, "Irish Wristwatch!" twenty times fast and fix this or any of the other issues (bad mechanic amplifiers) and fix this. These issues are many layers deep and will take a ton of minor changes as well as a few major changes to fix.
So how can you change all this if there is those who demand instant satisfaction upon logging in? There is a very vocal player base that feels like the game should be more like WoT or LoL. You log in, press button and receive bacon. They view any task no matter how small as a pain in the ass. They don't want anything to do with it. I think everything in this game that will result in something significant happening should have a proportional amount of effort by a real person to make it happen. Having an alt chilling cloaked up in a system when an entire enemy fleet jumps in and warps to another gate, passing within 14 au of your safe spot, should not yield the information of exact numbers, corp/alliance, names, exact ship types and even who the possible scouts and trailers are. All with the single click of the scan button. That is far too much critical information gathered with little to no effort to get it.
Those power blocks, through the current mechanics, are allowed to be pilled up into a small number of home/market systems. Through local, they are able to keep tabs on all activity in and around their territory. Through structure mails, they are able to know instantly if any assets they own are being attack. Mails that list the exact asset, location, alliance/corp attacking, exact ship they are flying and even the name of the pilot. All without even having to occupy/live in the system.
So with those things alliances are able to base their entire members out of one system, even one station. Toss in cyno alts at way points and that entire alliance can project itself very far and very fast. Most of these players are not too keen on wasting time on traveling. They view traveling as peasant for of travel. The so called elites use cynos, jump bridges and titan bridges. Far less clicking and effort. Warp to POS, press button, receive action. And honestly you can't blame them too much. They are using the mechanics given to them. The issue is the scaling of the mechanic when combined with the scaling issues of other mechanics that scale very poorly. By itself they are tolerable, but when all combined together and at a very high number, everything gets all ****** up.

And all of that is just the tip of the iceberg. Just remember mechanics in this game can easily be amplified off each other. Designing something that scales in a balanced way is an incredibly hard thing to pull off. That said waiting years and years without trying to truly address the issues is inexcusable. CCP has been better at addressing issues, but the issues are piled up and again it will take real changes both minor and major to fix them all.

Ask yourself: Why is (insert scenario) able to happen?
Dig deep. Find out as much as you can through research and experience. The true root of the problem may be twenty layers deep, through when isolated balanced mechanics, but when combined together, create something terrible and severely unbalanced.
Good luck and I actually am sorry for the spelling, grammar and such in this post. And I don't know why the forums made me break this all down into multiple different posts, they were under the 6000 character limit!

I never said anything remotely like that. Your trolling and spinning/flat out lying about other peoples posts are tiresome.
